“Peace is…” – Winner article of Peace Builders of Caucasus

PEACE IS…

Peace – this is a great achievement of mankind without any conflicts and war. Peace is a freedom from war and violence, especially when people live and work together happily without disagreements – Cambridge dictionary gives explanation of peace like that. What is peace for us, for our region, for Caucasus?

Caucasus region is famous for its cultural variety, multi-ethnic population and religious richness. These diversities between region people are not a real reason for struggle and tussle. It is a real chance for the region people to complete each other and become a whole organism. At Physics there is a theory of magnete and magnetic force. According to this theory the same parts of magnet repulse each other, but different parts attracts. For example, the main religions in the Caucasus are Christianity and Islam, which both of them are providers of peace. As it said at Bible “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” or “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all”. And the holy book of Muslims Qur`an says that “Allah does not forbid you to be kind and equitable to those who have neither fought against your faith nor driven you out of your homes. In fact Allah loves the equitable.” It shows that despite we have different religious backgrounds, we have same aim – peace, equality and prosperity.

To gain peace is one of the main problems in conflict zone. The main thing is to research effective ways to cut down conflict which is already running. Because peace is not a period with the absence of war and conflict, it is the ability to cope with it.

To reach peaceful resolution it is not enough to negotiate with the ruling circles, it is important a dialogue between public groups with different ages and social activities. Peace is a condition for open-mindedness, healthy thinking, discussing and learning. Because may be I am not true in my opinion, or may be you are not true in your opinion, but only together we can gain the best result.

Peace is me, my opinions, my imaginations, my plans, my works, my nation, my neighbours, my region, my world…

If we want to define what the Peace is, then we must just imagine… Imagine a society living in peace, imagine stability, equality, solidarity and unity. Just imagine Peace. Because there is no realization without imagination.
